It’s Wednesday and it’s time for…. WWW Wednesday, hosted on Taking On A World of Words.
What are the 3 Ws?
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently reading: Number One Chinese Restaurant by Lillian Li
I’m enjoying it so far!
Synopsis (Amazon): The Beijing Duck House in Rockville, Maryland, is not only a beloved go-to setting for hunger pangs and celebrations; it is its own world, inhabited by waiters and kitchen staff who have been fighting, loving, and aging within its walls for decades. When disaster strikes, this working family’s controlled chaos is set loose, forcing each character to confront the conflicts that fast-paced restaurant life has kept at bay.
Recently finish reading: The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin
Synopsis: 1969. New York. The works of a mysterious fortune-teller, had caused quite a stir among a few people in Clinton Street, and caught the attention of the Gold siblings, who were enthralled by the mysticism of it, and decided to seek her out.

My verdict: 4/5
The Incendiaries: A Novel by R.O. Kwon
Synopsis (Amazon): Phoebe Lin and Will Kendall meet in their first month at prestigious Edwards University. Phoebe is a glamorous girl who doesn’t tell anyone she blames herself for her mother’s recent death. Grieving and guilt-ridden, Phoebe is drawn into a secretive cult founded by a charismatic former student with an enigmatic past. When the group commits a violent act in the name of faith, Will finds himself struggling to confront a new version of the fanaticism he’s worked so hard to escape.

My next read (if my mood doesn’t change LOL): Clock Dance: A Novel by Anne Tyler
Synopsis (Amazon): Willa Drake can count on one hand the defining moments of her life. In 1967, she is a schoolgirl coping with her mother’s sudden disappearance. In 1977, she is a college coed considering a marriage proposal. In 1997, she is a young widow trying to piece her life back together. And in 2017, she yearns to be a grandmother but isn’t sure she ever will be. Then, one day, Willa receives a startling phone call from a stranger. Without fully understanding why, she flies across the country to Baltimore to look after a young woman she’s never met, her nine-year-old daughter, and their dog, Airplane. This impulsive decision will lead Willa into uncharted territory–surrounded by eccentric neighbors who treat each other like family, she finds solace and fulfillment in unexpected places. A bewitching novel of hope and transformation, Clock Dance gives us Anne Tyler at the height of her powers.
